This Grant is designed to help support organizations who have a passion and mission to restore ecosystems and improve food insecurity in their communities. The Grant consists of 5 years of implementation of a restoration agriculture program built on the principles of Permaculture, a form of agriculture that closely mirrors natural ecosystems. The focus of this grant is to establish a Demonstration Farm site through which an organization can implement Permaculture themselves, improve the ecosystem in their area, host trainings and workshops, and grow their own food.
Organizations must have a passion for implementing restoration agriculture within the context of their programs and their communities. The Grant will equal a total of $23,000 USD of funding over a period of 5 years, where no more than $5,000 USD is issued in a single year.
Eligibility Requirements:
– Must be an East African Organization, operating in: Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda or Malawi
– Must be a registered NGO or CBO or Non-profit Entity
– Must have an annual operating budget between $25,000 – $500,000 USD
– Must have a clear passion for community-development and mission to combat poverty and food insecurity
– Must have a designated staff member devoted to agriculture programs within the organization
– Must have the organizational capacity to complete all the required reports within 12 months of the grant disbursement.
– Must have the ability to communicate effectively and often with the EARN team via email or online video conferencing methods.
– Must have the commitment and ability to implement a 5 year grant. The EARN Grant is awarded to no more than 5 organizations per year, making it a highly competitive grant.
